🐾
A small black cat with bright green eyes.
His name means persistence.
Percy lives here. He has a collar with a tag on it, a great many opinions, and a standing arrangement with the neighbourhood that nobody has ever written down.
He goes out. He comes back. In between he is, by all accounts, somebody. People who have never met us know his name, and stop to tell us where they last saw him.
Photographs

There is a book
Twenty‑five pages about the summer Percy disappeared, where he went, and who he came home with. It is a children’s book. It is also a true story, which is not something you get to say about most children’s books.
Here is some of it.
… and then a whole summer went by …
… and it ends the way it should …
One more thing
They were not invented for the book. They came into the house more than once, through the same door Percy used.
Somebody had the presence of mind to take a photograph.
In the kitchen. Beside the cat bowls. Entirely unhurried.
Sightings
He introduced us. Occasionally, they send photographs.
He still goes visiting. He still comes home.
And apparently there are more stories.
